I studied literature and read far too much.

I collect old things.

I fell passionately in love with a gorgeous, dark-eyed foreign student and made him settle down in the Western United States with me.

He’s my joy in life, even though I eat more rice than I used to and no longer wear my pretty shoes in the house.

I sing old ballads to myself as I do housework.

I like art history, and studied a bit of that, too.

I’ve filled my house with books, pictures, vintage globes, old doilies and pretty teacups.
